In His Time

In His Time

There is a time and purpose for everything that happens. Sometimes we do not understand why certain things happen, but we learn to accept them. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." Yet we struggle to accept it. Why?

Our struggle to accept God's purpose and plan for our lives lies within our weak faithless hearts. We lack faith in Him. Yes, those who have called on His name are saved by His grace through their faith. But without Him, we can not trust God. It is impossible for us to do anything on our own. It is only by His love that we take each breath. So we need to thank God for His help in our daily walk with Him. But we also need to thank Him for His plan for our lives.

As Christians, we need to understand that "everything works together for good" whether we see the good or not. God does not ask us to question His plan but He does promise to "never leave thee nor forsake thee." Isn't it a comfort to know that He is in control of our lives?

Praise God for His wonderful Grace and Control in your life! It is only by His mercy that you can be called His Child.

Romans 3:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Two Beliefs One Choice

Two Beliefs One Choice

The Discussion:

There has always been a controversy between Evolutionists and Creationists as to which is correct, but one man says that we can believe in them both.  We know that most Evolutionists believe that the world was created by little particles billions of years ago. Sometimes people call it the Big Bang Theory. While others, like myself, believe that God created both Heaven and Earth. With our understanding of these two different concepts, how can we group them together in our thinking? Physics professor, Karl W. Giberson believes it is possible. He claims to have been raised to believe in the Intelligent Design (ID) belief, but as an adult realized that evolution is not so different from ID that they can both be accepted. He claims “fundamentalists’  ‘elevate Genesis beyond what is appropriate’.” Is he right or wrong?

The Problem:

It is a nice medium that Professor Giberson is trying to create, but his thinking is wrong. Even evolutionists can see through research that there must be a “greater” power behind the creation of this world we call earth. This understanding has been known as the Intelligent Design concept. The knowledge that a greater being [God] created the universe.

Just study the monkey, the supposed ancestor of the human race. If we truly evolved from this creature, then how come none of the monkeys that have been studied have ever evolved and started talking with the same intelligence as you or me? Sure they have learned sign language, but this limited language is far inferior to our own language. But if you step back into the book of Genesis, God describes man’s creation. There should be no question as to man’s true origin. Genesis 2:7 “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Is this not easier to believe than the theory that man started out as a monkey then slowly evolved to a man?

Therefore these two beliefs can never be joined together like Professor Giberson claims. They oppose each other in too many areas to be accepted as a unit. Note Professor Giberson’s comment about the need for a functional religion. “Carl Sagan’s book Cosmos, was not accepted by Professor Giberson because it did not ‘ inspire ordinary people’ to be passionate about spirituality.” Is this what the debate is about? Using science and religion to inspire spirituality? Maybe for Professor Giberson, but I disagree. The debate is about merging two completely different beliefs so that everyone can get along.

What the Bible Says:

Where did the earth come from? The Bible claims, “in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). The Bible is filled with truths about creation. Psalm 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handiwork.” We can know for certain that God created this world. But since this the case, Professor Giberson would then be wrong. Evolutionists and Creationists cannot agree. Isaiah 42:5 “Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein.” He did not say that some of us evolved or formed as a result of the big bang. He personally gave us the “breath of life.” For some, this belief will take faith. For others it will prove what you have suspected.

But know this first, that God sent His own son to die on the cross for you so that you might inherit eternal life with Him (John 3:16). Once you have accepted Him as your personal Lord and Savior, you then can believe in His creation.
